The Funk Brothers were the biggest hit makers of all time, performing on more number one hits than The Beatles, Beach
Boys, Elvis and Rolling Stones combined!!
If you've ever enjoyed a song by The Temptations, Four Tops, Supremes or Miracles, then you've enjoyed the fantastic
musicianship of The Funk Brothers. With incredible bass lines from James Jamerson, or later Bob Babbit...and great drummers
like Pistol Allen, Benny Benjamin, and Uriel Jones, The Funk Brothers already had a great foundation. Add to that, keyboards
from Earl Van Dyke, Joe Hunter, and Johnny Griffith and you're getting some serious funk. But it's more than bass, drums
and pianos. The Funk Brothers had some incredible guitarists too! When you hear that guitar at the beginning of
"My Girl," that's Robert White. Other Funk Brother guitarists were Joe Messina, and Eddie Willis, a trio that made up
The Oreo Cookie!
Great percussion was always important on Motown records, and that's where Eddie Brown and Jack Ashford come in!
